Hey Friends,

Anybody know the effects used on this solo?

The solo starts almost 2:39 in the video.

I believe it was washed originally on a Tele (?).

I dearest Jeff "The Skunk" Baxter, one of the two original guitarists with the group; but I believe information technology was his band-mate-guitarist who lead on this one (Walter Becker?).

The solo was played past Denny Dias. There's a nifty clip somewhere on YT of the ring playing that song on US Tv set.

The solo was played by Denny Dias. At that place's a slap-up clip somewhere on YT of the band playing that vocal on US TV.

Maybe this video, below?

Looks like Jeff "The Skunk" is on congas, on this song. He plays a hateful Strat (when he's not on secondary percussion).

Denny Dias sometimes played a Strat with a humbucker at the cervix, I think.

I believe its an electric sitar playing that.. non too sure

It definitely has equally a sitar-like sound, but I'm thinking it was done on a Tele, with some unusual effects; maybe a sitar setting (?).

Hmmmmmmmm.

Nosotros'll get to the bottom of this, even so.

Well I looked it upwards, and all the places I look suggest it's an electric sitar.

Wiki even says Denny used it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_It_Again_(Steely_Dan_song)

I tried to lookout that video you posted to see if I tin observe something out but they but synced ii live performances to the original track so it's of no assistance unfortunately. I knew it was likewise weird that the notes on the solo didn't match his hands..

or even something like this:
buy electric sitar for auction, buy sitar with pick-upwardly, purchase electrical sitar, tun woods, natural color, kharaj pancham, 1/iv jack slot, piezo pick ups, mizrabs, extra strings, fiber case

:)

Hmmmm. I'd love to see that Electric Sitar solo on video.

You and I both! I've been searching desperately through youtube to find something..haven't had whatsoever luck though. Information technology must accept been astonishing to see in person!

Steely Dan has always had some of the most colorful and tasty solo work in their music..Larry carlton in "Kid Charlemagne" and the fills in "Don't Take Me Alive" come to mind.

The Royal Scam album overall is simply genius!

I have been searching for any kind of "session-ography" for "Do It Again" - hard to find annihilation!
It was probable one of those Coral "Vinnie Bell" electrical sitars similar dogletnoir posted in the YT vid above. Does anyone know who else made electric instruments such as that??

Here are a couple live shots of Denny - check out the controls:
LP-style toggle switch on the upper bout, three chrome dome Tele knobs and three mini toggles on the control plate, looks like two humbuckers; looks similar a hardtail Strat-manner six-saddle span equally well.

I agree, some very fine Fusion represented in much of Steely Dan's piece of work.
